南九州（宮崎・鹿児島）に伝わる弦楽器、ゴッタン。
動物の皮を使用せずに木材のみで作られています。
別名　箱三味線、板三味線。
バチではなく指で弾きます、三味線と比べ丸く穏やかな音色です。

The Gottan is a traditional Japanese string instrument from Southern Kyushu (Miyazaki and Kagoshima).
It is made entirely of wood without animal skins.
The Gottan is also known as box shamisen and “ita” shamisen (board shamisen).
It is played with the fingers, not a bachi (pick), and has a rounder, gentler tone than the shamisen.

・一の糸にサワリが無く、素朴で優しい音色です。
・原材料の風味を生かした、木の温かみのある楽器。
It has a simple and gentle tone with no sawari (note: shamisen has a typical buzzy sound called sawari in the first string).
The instrument has the warmth of wood with the flavor of the raw material.

・胴の中を音が響くように"うづくり"が施されています。

高温多湿、直射日光を避けて保管して下さい。
演奏後はチューニングを少し落として下さい、ブリッジ部分に負荷が掛り続けて故障や弦の寿命が縮む原因になります。
Store away from high temperature, high humidity, and direct sunlight.
After playing, please tune the strings down a little. Continuous load on the bridge part may cause malfunctions and shorten the life of the instrument.
